Finiq

Finiq (Greek: Φοινίκη) is a small village in Albania, (Northern Epirus) located 8 km from the Ionian Sea and 20 km north of the Greek border. Its inhabitants speak Greek[1][2] as mother tongue. It is the center of the commune of Finiq, which comprises six other villages: Vrion (gr. Βρυώνι), Bregas (formerly known as Vromero, gr. Βρωμερό), Karahaxh (gr. Καραχάτζι), Shënjan or Shijan, Buronjë (formerly known as Mavropull, gr. Μαυρόπουλο) and Çlirim (former SMT). Tha majority of its population lives now in Greece (mainly in Athens, at Gyzi area), where they settled after the year 1991.
