[edit] Plot
Finders Keepers features Floyd Finders and his sidekick, Goldie the Cat, who collect treasure, schools of fish, holiday-themed items and special trinkets. Floyd and Goldie travel through the oceans on their boat, while trying to retrieve Floyd's lucky coin from Merboy, the boy mermaid.
[edit] Gameplay
Gameplay in Finders Keepers can best be described as a Treasure Hunting game. At the bottom of Floyd's boat is a swinging claw that, upon the user pressing the spacebar or mouse button, extends out into the water. The user receives points based upon the value of the item that is retrieved. This can include jewels, pearls, fish, and other exotic items. As the levels advance Floyd will sometimes face off against pirates, whales, ghosts, and other foes.
The game features over 150 levels spread across seven different locals:
- North Pole
- Ice Shelf
- Bahamas
- Deadman’s Cay
- Above Titanic
- Inside Titanic
- Atlantis
There are three difficulty levels in the game and three game modes:
- Finders (Story Mode)
- Keepers (Score Attack/Endless)
- Two-player
Score Attack, which is unlocked by winning the game, allows the user to play as a variety of different characters that Floyd meets while playing. Two-player mode allows two players to play against each other on one system. This is only available with the downloadable PC version of the game.
[edit] Market Reception
Finders Keepers was first launched in December on AOL's casual games site Games.com, a top-tier portal. Since then it has flourished as one of the most popular games, ranking as one of top seven most popular downloads. As of January 31, 2008 it was the most popular download game on the site[1]. The game is now launching market wide and will be available on many major portals within the next month.
