Final Fight 3, known in Japan as Final Fight Tough (ファイナルファイトタフ Fainaru Faito Tafu?), is the third game in the Final Fight series. Like Final Fight 2, Final Fight 3 was exclusively for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and was not released in arcades. This game introduces two new characters; Lucia Morgan and Dean.

[edit] Story

After the Mad Gear Gang was destroyed in Final Fight 2, a gang war erupted in Metro City, with the Skull Cross Gang eventually reigning supreme. Guy returns to Metro City following his training and meets up with Mayor Haggar. Unfortunantly for the two, their reunion is cut short when the Skull Cross Gang detonates a bomb and incites a riot in downtown Metro City, freeing their leader, Black, from prison. Joined by Metro City Special Crimes Unit officer Lucia Morgan and a mysterious street fighter named Dean, Guy and Haggar fight to take down the Skull Cross Gang.

[edit] Gameplay

The game's engine is greatly modified from that of its predecessors. Borrowing from the Street Fighter series, special attacks and super moves were included. Running, running attacks, and running leap attacks similar to those in Captain Commando were also added. Players could also grab opponents from behind, much like rival series Streets of Rage. Characters have weapon combos with their weapon of preference. However, if a player used any weapon other than their weapon of preference, it would be used with a single power blow. All the players have an advantage in either speed or power, with Guy being the most balanced in both terms of speed and strength.

Additionally, the game's stages feature multiple routes, activated by breaking particular objects in the background. These objects can only be destroyed someone being knocked into them from an attack, either the player's character or an enemy. The different routes can lead into hidden rooms, alternate pathways, or early completion of a stage. One stage—the seaport—can only be accessed in this manner.

Also added was a co-op mode where an A.I. controlled partner of the player's choice could fight alongside him. Though this mode gathered critical praise, it did not gather much mainstream attention.

[edit] Playable Characters

[edit] Guy

Main article: Guy (Final Fight)
  • Characteristic: Fast, but slightly less powerful. The most balanced of the four heroes.
  • Sure-Kill Technique: Bushinryuu Senpuu-Kyaku or Warrior God Style Hurricane Kick
  • Weapon of Preference: Nunchaku aka Nunchucks.
  • Special Ability: Off-the-wall jump. Guy can use walls or vertical planes to launch himself towards opponents with a kick that has longer reach and high priority damage.
  • Super Move: 1,000 Fist Barrage. Guy pummels his victim with deep gut punches, finished with a body-rending blast of ki from his palm.

[edit] Mike Haggar

Main article: Mike Haggar
  • Characteristic: Very powerful, but very slow.
  • Sure-Kill Technique: Spinning Clothesline
  • Weapon of Preference: A steel pipe.
  • Special Ability: Haggar uses his wrestling prowess to execute air throws.
    • Back Flip Drop: Grabbing an opponent from behind, Haggar leaps in the air with the enemy, then drives them into the ground head first.
    • Spinning Pile driver: Haggar grabs an opponent, leaps several feet into the air and spinning with him on descent, smashes him down on the ground for massive damage.
  • Super Move: Final Hammer. Haggar executes a series of devastating wrestling throws on his enemy.

[edit] Dean

  • Characteristic: Powerful, but a bit slow.
  • Height: 6'6" (197cm)
  • Weight: 214 lbs (91kg)
  • Hobby: Driving (Fast)
  • Favorite Food: Beef Kabobs
  • Sure-Kill Technique: Electric Shock
  • Weapon of Preference: A hammer, which he electrifies before throwing.
  • Special Ability: Distance grab, which allows Dean to grab enemies from farther than anyone else.
  • Super Move: Scrap Dunk. Dean body slams an opponent, picks them off the ground, jumps with them and slams them, electrified, again from great height.

He is a street fighter that can use electricity as a weapon. He wears a white sleeveless T-shirt with black pants, headband, harness and boots.

When the Skull Cross gang terrorizes the city in place of the now defunct Mad Gear gang, Dean was one of the people they wanted in their group. While having extensive knowledge of the gang, Dean declined their offer. The gang maliciously murders his family and the grief-stricken Dean now seeks to avenge their deaths.

When the Skull Cross gang was finally defeated, Dean contemplated learning to live a normal life again but also felt the fight may not be over. He walked away from the other three heroes into the sunset.

He carries a picture of his family wherever he goes. His electric attacks have led to rumors of him possibly being a cyborg, but Capcom has neither confirmed nor denied this fact.

[edit] Lucia Morgan

  • Characteristic: Very fast, but very weak.
  • Height: 5'8" (172cm)
  • Weight: 115 lbs(52kg)
  • Hobby: Cooking (not very good at it though)
  • Favorite Food: Instant noodles.
  • Sure-Kill Technique: Hurricane Spinner.
  • Weapon of Preference: A police baton.
  • Special Ability: Lucia attacks with mostly kicks, giving her the longest range of the four heroes.
  • Super Move: Hard Hit Knee Lucia executes a series of devastating kicks, ending with an incinerating kick for a total of about 16 successive hits of damage.

A detective in the Metro City SCU (Special Crimes Unit), Lucia has very long, slender and muscular legs and short, blonde hair. She wears a fighting police outfit consisting of a blue sports bra with a brown vest and gloves, jeans cut into shorts, and tennis shoes. Her eyes are brown in the cutscenes, but her sprite is blue-eyed.

There is an official artwork of Lucia, along with other women, working out aerobics with Chun-Li, which suggests that the two may be friends[citation needed]. The fact that both of them are detectives and the resemblance of her moves to Chun-Li's signature move, Hyakuretsu Kyaku hints that Lucia may be a student under Chun-Li.

Lucia interrupts Haggar as he's talking with Guy, and joins up with them to defeat the Skull Cross gang as thanks for Haggar previously clearing her of a false corruption charge. She's an old friend of Cody, too.

[edit] Enemies

[edit] Underlings

  • G and Johnny are this game's basic common thugs. They punch, they kick, they walk, they don't do much else. G has an uncanny resemblance to the Final Fight hero, Guy, although he is much scruffier looking.
  • Ray and Billy use punching combos and attack from behind.
  • Dirk and Rick are tall enemies that use metal claws in their assault.
  • Fat Jack and Arby are the "fat enemies" in this game. They have a great amount of power, used to do running charges and hand slaps at the opponents.
  • May uses highflying attacks, stabs her opponents with kunai attached to her fists, and can throw with a frankensteiner.
  • Fritz and Joe look alike, but attack differently. Joe is a short runt that openly attacks the opponent most when their back is turned. Fritz is a short runt who, like Holly Wood, throws bombs at the opponent and runs away, without actually engaging in any fighting.
  • Andore returns once more for a third Final Fight game. His costume was changed again, now sporting a white sweatshirt, a chain which runs into the pocket of his pants and thick boots. He still has the same powerful wrestling moves from the previous games, but now he moves rather clumsily and is by far less aggressive than before.

[edit] Bosses

  • Dave is the boss of the first level. Like Edi. E from the first Final Fight, Dave is a corrupt cop of the MCPD. He uses a nightstick as his weapon in battle. He also has a crippling move where he can jump abnormally high in the air and stomp hard on his opponent.
  • Callman is the boss of the second level. Callman is presumably a bouncer, as he is encountered within the proximity of a bar. His muscular physique is an asset in battle. He specializes in shoulder charging his opponent and devastating combo attacks.
  • Caine is the boss of the third level. Nicknamed "The Destroyer," Caine is the gang's personal mechanic, and is encountered in a wrecking yard. He has a Jamaican look and uses his enormous wrench for more than just fixing things. His best technique in battle is his long reach and grapple attacks.
  • Drake is the boss of the fourth level, if the player takes the seaport route. He is a sailor in charge of smuggling in weapons to a company called The Sims. He can shake the ground damaging his opponent. Given the opportunity, Drake also uses an anchor in battle.
  • Wong is the boss of the fourth level if the player takes the Chinatown route (although he can also be encountered in the fifth level). Wong's occupation is somewhat a source of confusion on what is: most believe he is a chef (based on his appearance) and because his setting is in the kitchen of a restaurant, some think he is a monk, while others think he is both. His attacks mainly consist of spin jumps and charges.
  • Stray is the boss of the fifth level. He sports a trench coat and sunglasses. He is Black's second in command of the gang. He protects the Skull Cross gang's computer files containing their important information. Stray's fighting style mimics that of Vega of the Street Fighter series with his highflying attacks. He also wears spiked knuckles on his hands to increase his already devastating punch attacks.
  • Black is the leader of the Skull Cross gang and the last boss. His look borrows elements from Rolento and Sagat, having the military elements of the former (boots, pants, a beret, and the use of knives) and the eye patch and chest scarring of the latter. He looks almost identical to the Colonel from Fist of the North Star. He uses a flogging whip as his main weapon along with the aforementioned knives, and possesses a spinning attack that is similar to Haggar's lariat and a ki attack similar to Guy's Palm Blast Attack.
