Just popped over to see what you had been up to, and I see you haven't had "You have new messages" for a while, so thought I would rectify that for you! Otherwise all seems borring and quiet on the wiki. Thanks for the vote at Buckingham Palace, it must stick in the whatsit of an Irishman to vote for such a symbol of oppression and establoishment. I had forgotten about the bloody place (not my finest moment, twice!) untill Aloan renominated it, but it seems better received now, allthugh to be honest I can't see a great deal of difference, but Aloan has moved things about a little, so that's obviously done the trick. Indeed you were, I've just had to grovel on Aloan's page as I had basically told him it was a waste of time. Humble pie has never been my favourite dish; anyway I have something now far more egalitarian in the pipeline, and Grutness has just uploaded some great fotos for it, so life ison the up. Thank you for your assistance in resolving the dispute over the article for E. E. Cummings. Though I have attempted to stay civil, the editing of something as small as language style has somehow provoked the user to a level of dispute he claims to not have engaged in before. This seems to me rather bizarre, and I would guess that largely he is trying to treat the page as his creation to lord over. In any case, please keep me informed as to the hows, wheres, and whys of conflict resolution as I have never had to participate in any such case.

You responded to Chameleon's comments inquisitively. The answer is that in the midst of a recurring edit war over a long period in the Noam Chomsky article, I made some largely innocuous edits at which point Chameleon accused me of being a sockpuppet, blamed me for his own mistake, and suggested I was acting as other "anti-Chomskyites" who have attempted to "destroy" the article in the past (though there was no comment on the content). Since then, in response to my criticism of someone else's criticism of the article in general, he told the user to "feel free to ignore" my "attacks". My attacks. So apparently, "sadly" reflects his desire to see me punished for something because of my apparent effrontery in having not conformed to his expectations and presumptuously editing an article that he lords over.

The level of maturity in many instances of this site is not encouraging, though I have had better experiences with other users. --TJive June 29, 2005 11:30 (UTC)

Thank you for changing the Cummings article to American English. I had done this on one occasion and he became upset by it and we had a debate on his discussion page, in which he said British English is the only proper form. Odd thing, though, is that he is an American. I tried to tell him that subjects that are American should use American grammar but he attacked that form as incorrect, and that British English is the only correct usage of English. Oh, it gets better, there's no need for a hard ban. Block expiry and unblock got disabled in the upgrade, ooops... meaning, any block is now in practice an indefinite hard ban! See warning on Special:Blockip (scroll down a little). Fil, my prettytable list version is now considerably less ugly, check it out! It's meant to go with {{virtuestubs}} on the works, bodged up from the material now on List of books with the subtitle "Virtue Rewarded". What do you think? Which version would you rather feature? Really, you like that version? Hmmm. I'm on the fence. I just read Irish Hospitality, or,..—well, I skipped Acts 2, 3, and 4 (that may be why the plot looks a little static when I describe it)—anyway, I put a bit into the non-table list about the Irish squirarchy's lumpish obsession with creature comforts. You and Geogre raised some good issues about African-American literature and I've tried to address them. Do my changes work for you? Also, what do you think about my suggestion of putting some of the extra info about Toomer in the Harlem Renaissance article?
