FileMatrix

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FileMatrix is a multi-column file manager. It can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer, the built-in Windows file manager.

FileMatrix is different from orthodox file managers, the class of file managers with two windows side by side (Norton Commander style).

The multi-column navigation offers the advantages of menus, which can be navigated hierarchically from left to right by opening a new view for each submenu, but keeps everything in a single window. Because the keyboard can't be used for drag-and-drop, the mouse is the main user-input device used.

The FileMatrix name comes from the fact that files are organized like a 3 dimensional matrix of files: files in a column, columns, boards.
