Filipino American writers are poets, fictionists, playwrights, screen writers and writers of nonfiction from the United States with Philippine roots who are either:
- born and raised in the United States with at least one Filipino or Filipino American parent
- born in the Philippines but eventually resided in the United States; These writers became Americans through naturalization
