FightR is a 2D Platform game for Microsoft Windows, written by the Swedish programmer Marcus Näslund. The first official version (0.1) was originally released in 2007, and the game has been in development since then.[1] The current version is 0.5. The object of the game is to kill all the opponents, using at present 10 different weapons. A maximum of two players and seven AI players can compete at the same time.

[edit] Gameplay

The gameplay is very similar to many other Platform games. Each player controls a small character, called a FightR, and the goal is to kill all opposing FightRs. All players start out with three weapons at their disposal, and fight either Free-for-all or in a maximum of four teams.

[edit] Future development

Version 0.5 was released in April 2008, and there have been no reports about a coming version. The time since the latest version is of course small, so there is as of yet no reason to think that the series is dead.

[edit] Community

Although FightR is still a relatively small game, the amount of players is growing. Since neither a level or a weapons editor have been released, very few extra level or weapon packs exist publicly. Multiplayer is not yet available either, but since the game is not finished yet, many major features are likely to be included in the future.

[edit] Weapons

The game currently contains twelve weapons:

  • Shotgun - Standard weapon, hurts a bit and has a modest loading time.
  • Pistol - Hurts a bit less than shotgun, but can fire more shots per round.
  • Fatta Rocket Launcher - Fires devastating rockets, although very slow to reload.
  • Rimi laser - Developed during the cold war, this laser weapon can fire through walls.
  • Nillsk electroschock - Hurts opponents with electrical charges. Can fire and reload rapidly.
  • Wizz grenade - A long-range and powerful hand grenade.
  • Quick grenade - A smaller explosive yield than the wizz grenade. Also explodes quicker.
  • The Dasher Knife - A close range weapon for when the other weapons are out of ammo.
  • Fatta Light - A light version of the Fatta Rocket Launcher. Fires smaller, less powerful rockets.
  • Uzi - A powerful close range weapon that fires more rapidly than the other weapons.
  • Jim Bow - A great way to finish off your opponents is with this slow but powerful bow.
  • Sniper - Kills with one shot, and there's no time to get out of its way. Takes time to reload, though.
