[edit] Residency restrictions?

Does Field have the same residency restrictions as Banff? If so, this should be noted. 23skidoo 04:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

It's in a national park, so you can't just go build a house anywhere; but between it being in a different national park and a different province, I doubt it, other than only so much accommodation is available. What are Banff's residency restrictions?Skookum1 04:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

You basically can't live there unless you work in the park and/or in Banff itself, although I believe there is a grandfather clause (pardon the pun) that allows some seniors to live there full-time as I believe they have a seniors residence building. Many people who work in Banff actually live in Canmore, located outside the park about 15 minutes up the highway. I believe Jasper has similar rules. So while I would expect Field to have restrictions on development, what I'm wondering is whether it too restricts who can actually live there. It would be a federal government decision, not a provincial one, however. 23skidoo 13:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Here's a link to the field community plan which should outline residency restrictions: [1] Mtobey 18:41, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
