[edit] Discussion at Category talk:Fictional swimmers

This category needs more clarity. Is this only about characters with a history of being lifeguards, competitive swimmers, explorative divers, underwater fishers, etc. Fictional characters who are exclusively swimmers or former swimmers working for a living?

If so, what about fishers who swim underwater after various fictonal prey to eat? Fictional soldiers who work underwater? Fictional underwater explorers who work without payment? Characters who often swim for leisure? Merpeople? This article can be expanded, but we need to know what the limits are.

Should all fictional characters with the ability to swim be included, or is that too extreme an assumption? Thoughts?

All? Absolutely not. The mere ability to swim is not a defining characteristic. If it's not significant enough to mention with properly cited reference in the character's article, it's not appropriate categorization. Doczilla 03:33, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I have decided to ressurect the category and file as part of the Fictional sportspeople category and only include people who are identified as swimmers for sporting purposes. Conquistador2k6 19:45 10 July 2007 (UTC)

That does not appear to have held up. Doczilla (talk) 09:56, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
