[edit] Purpose of this template
We might need to consider what this template is correctly used for.
I made this template based on {{Memoryalpha}}, which links a fairly authoritative Star Trek wiki. {{FGwiki}} links were added to most Family Guy-related article pages to provide an escape valve for unencyclopedic material; however, I don't think it was very effective in that purpose. Family Guy articles on Wikipedia continued to receive tons of unencyclopedic information such as Goofs, deeply non-notable trivia, excessive plot detail, and general fancruft, and a campaign to systematically move such sections to Family Guy Wiki was met with resistance.
And per the deletion nomination, Family Guy Wiki still isn't up to the WP:EL standard.
So unless we get serious about exporting all unencyclopedic information to Family Guy Wiki, I'm not sure there is much use for this template. / edg ☺ ☭ 06:52, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, it does meet WP:EL standards, given the activity of the wiki. For the other concerns, I consider the effort to be a work in progress. It's hard to say if this actually has been effective or not, since Family Guy is so popular that it's almost a given that someone will be around to add crufty content. -- Ned Scott 07:28, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
