According to these sources "Ferntree Gully" is the official and/or common name:

• VicSig says "Ferntree Gully" with "Fern Tree Gully" being a former name.^[1][2].
• Connex also uses "Frentree Gully" for both station names.^[3].
• Official government geographic names register uses "Ferntree Gully"^[4] and "Upper Ferntree Gully"^[5] for the railway station names.
• The suburb names according to the official government geographic names register are "Ferntree Gully"^[6] and "Upper Ferntree Gully"^[7].
