The Fernando de Peñalver Municipality is one of the 21 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the eastern Venezuelan state of Anzoátegui and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 29,977.[1] The town of Puerto Píritu is the shire town of the Fernando de Peñalver Municipality.[2]

The Fernando de Peñalver Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 29,977 (up from 26,059 in 2000). This amounts to 2% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 75 people per square mile (46.62/km²).[4]

The mayor of the Fernando de Peñalver Municipality is Francisco José González, re-elected on October 31, 2004 with 42% of the vote.[5][6] The municipality is divided into three parishes; Capital Fernando de Peñalver, San Miguel, and Sucre.[7]
