Fernando Fernández-Savater Martín (San Sebastián, 1947-). Spanish philosopher and essayist, most famous for his popular books on ethics and his newspaper articles.

He was an Ethics professor at the University of the Basque Country for over a decade. Presently he is Philosophy professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.

He has taken part in several organizations engaged with peace in the Basque Country and against terrorism and Basque nationalism, such as Movimiento por la Paz y la No Violencia, Gesto por la Paz, Foro de Ermua, and currently ¡Basta Ya!.

He is agnostic.

He has recently founded a new political party called Unión, progreso y democracia (Unity, Progress and Democracy) in order to regenerate the current Spanish political scene.
