Fernanda Alves

Fernanda Alves of Portugal became the first delegate from her country to win any major beauty pageant title. She won Miss International in 1996 in Kanazawa, Japan.[1]
Fernanda participated in several pageants, always achieving one of the top three positions. Some of her titles include Miss Teenage (South Africa, 1993), Miss Portugal/South Africa (March 1996) and Miss Portugal 2nd runner-up/princess (May 1996).
She went on to marry self-made millionaire Matthias Schmelz in 1999 in Costa Rica. They settled in Estoril, Portugal. They also have two children (Electra and Fernando).
