Fern Acres is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 756 at the 2000 census.

Fern Acres is located at 19°30′43″N, 155°5′24″W (19.511846, -155.089878)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.3 square miles (16.2 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 756 people, 267 households, and 182 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 120.6 people per square mile (46.6/km²). There were 319 housing units at an average density of 50.9/sq mi (19.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 41.93% White, 0.40% African American, 0.79% Native American, 10.71% Asian, 12.83% Pacific Islander, 1.59% from other races, and 31.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.15% of the population.

There were 267 households out of which 41.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% were non-families. 24.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.40.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 32.9% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 4.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 108.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $32,981. Males had a median income of $20,417 versus $23,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $11,876. About 10.9% of families and 16.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.4% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
