Ferguson Enterprises Inc., headquartered in Newport News, Virginia is the country's largest wholesale distributor of plumbing supplies; pipes, valves and fittings; heating and cooling equipment (HVAC); waterworks; mechanical and industrial; bathrooms and appliances; tools and safety equipment; and fire protection products. According to Ferguson's website, they are ranked by trade publications as the largest distributor of plumbing supplies and the third largest distributor of HVAC equipment in the United States.[1].

Ferguson was founded in 1953 by Charlie Ferguson, Ralph Lenz and Johnny Smithers. In 1982 Ferguson Enterprises Inc. was acquired by the British company Wolseley plc but retained its name of Ferguson Enterprises. Today, Ferguson employees upwards of 22,000 associates and has around 1400 locations in the 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Their Chief Executive Officer is John Stegeman. Brad Miller is the Chief Financial Officer and Kevin Murphy is the Chief Operating Officer[2]. The President of Ferguson Fire & Fabrication is Lee Klein. Ferguson along with its two sister companies Stock Building Supply and Wolseley Canada comprise Wolseley's North American Division of Wolseley plc.

Branches across the country are associated with a warehouse. Most warehouses have a traditional counter. These locations have self service capability and are primarily used by contractors. Xpress stores are self-service locations that sell plumbing and light commercial inventory to contractors [3]. These Xpress stores are not connected to a warehouse but get their goods from the associated branch's warehouse. Ferguson also offers showrooms [4] featuring plumbing fixtures, lighting and appliances.

Ferguson Fire & Fabrication is a subsidiary of Ferguson Enterprises. They have several branches and fabrication facilities across the U.S. Ferguson Fire and Fabrication (FFF) supplies the highest quality fire-protection products across the United States, dedicated to the fire-sprinkler contractor. Ferguson Fire and Fabrication has and is continuing to grow their business and reputation on performing. “Total Performance” is assured in the areas of product selection, fast and efficient shop and/or jobsite deliveries, job based or shop accounting and the most comprehensive inventory in the industry.
