Ferdinand Carré

Ferdinand Carré was a French engineer, born at Moislains, in the Somme departement in 1824. He died in 1894.

He was best known for his refrigeration work. He invented an ice-making machine in 1859 and exhibited it at the Universal London Exhibition, producing an output of 200 kg per hour. His design was based on the gas-vapour system, still the method used today. He also created an electric light regulator in 1877.
