Fenis and St. Joseph, also known as the Sao Jao y Fenix was a 50 foot open sailing vessel that visited Nootka Sound in 1792.[1] It bore a Portuguese flag of convenience, possibly out of Macau. It played an important part in the Vancouver Expedition, when Zachary Mudge was sent west in this boat across the Pacific to China, and from there back to England for further instructions.
