[edit] Gaeta - homosexual?

"A few BSG fans have speculated that Lieutenant Gaeta is a homosexual character." - which fans, or just yourself? reference to his surname? Battlestar wiki has a much more comprehensive article, and does not mention this. --Ling 11:00, 3 April 2006 (BST)

...'closet' meaning what exactly? Mihara 16:07, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Cylon infiltrator maybe (currently just speculation). Shan246 15:20, Friday, 3 March 2006 (AEST)

Best to just leave it alone. Laura Rosalin hasn't bonked any guys either (besides Adar, breifly, apparently) and is helping some chick raise the Cylon baby, but we aren't callin' her any names, is we? I for one, am assuming Gaetas' doe eyed admiration for Baltar is leading up to him turning crazy angry when he finds out the truth about that guy. Maybe we should place BETS. 66.41.66.213 17:13, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Can we post things without crude language? Seen that more than necessary on here lately.

Update to the bet: He stab's Baltar in the neck. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 158.123.153.254 (talk) 16:11, 1 February 2007 (UTC).

Personally, I would like to remove the Speculations on Sexual Orientation section. It's purely speculative (as the title says), I don't see how it's notable, and it doesn't merit its own heading. The joke from Katee Sackhoff and the Advocate article are tangible, so they can stay under the heading of Trivia. Stating that fan speculation and debate exists is vague and useless, as is stating how some fans have interpreted his admiration of Baltar. Does anyone object? -- Noneofyourbusiness 18:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

No one has objected in all this time, which I'll take as an okay. -- Noneofyourbusiness 17:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] = Proportions =

The article about Gaeta has become absurd. I mean, c'mon - there are seven paragraphs, of which only two concern first two seasons and all the rest is about the last five episodes. Furthermore, the last three paragraphs (which means about half an article) are describing only one episode! These proportions should be definitely changed. -- Vysogota 20:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it seems to have become common to update every involved article with relatively detailed synopses following each episode aired. The entire hierarchy needs a lot of this sort of stuff cleaned up. Feel free to trim it down... -- Fru1tbat 17:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
You know, while I can do some minor edits here and there - and I do, actually - I would rather avoid doing general cleanups or writing large parts of articles. The reason is quite simple: I'm not a native English speaker. -- Vysogota 20:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
The recent events in season 3 have had the most important character moments for Gaeta. I don't think its uncalled for to have more detail on the recent episodes if they contain stronger Gaeta stories.ColonelCurt 00:58, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree that the character of Gaeta received significant development and screen time in "Collaborators". However, in the previous version of the article, the vast majority of the content was a scene-by-scene description of the "Collaborators" episode. The balance of the artcle was way out. Of course it's appropriate to mention the character-shaping events of "Collaborators" in the Gaeta article, but the scene-by-scene description should be reserved for the episode page. That's why I made the changes that I did, inspired by the comments of Fru1tbat and Vysogota on this talk page. Sullivan.t.j 01:10, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

The part about Gaeta smoking, drinking and getting a tattoo was from a 'funny' video the actors did 'in character'. It wasn't meant to be a true part of the character canon. The tattoo said that he loved Baltar, which I'm sure is not intended to be part of the show canon. Or at least not so obviously.

[edit] Final Cylon

Uh shouldn't it be mentioned that he has all but been revealed to be the last of the final five? I mean he IS singing a song just like the other final 5 were humming a song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.96.78.130 (talk) 19:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

He is not just singing a song, he is singing "the" song. And the singing crescendos with the tension of the drama. In film parlance, the director is practically screaming, "here is your final cylon" Additionally as his leg was about to be cut off he insisted that he not be put under. This plays into the requirement of pain as Six described to Colonel Tigh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.157.132.212 (talk) 17:42, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I was thinking the song was "the" song at first based off the tune but the words don't match the words of the song that the tune comes from. Also I've noticed the whole "waking" during periods of pain yatta yatta. But to note he was numbed by Doc Cottle (sp?). So he couldn't feel almost anything physical he did feel it mentally. Personal note, as much whinny he seems sometimes I saw this comming a long time ago and I did realize to make sense it had to be him or Dee (sp?) Adama. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.170.209.16 (talk) 14:27, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
