[edit] Plot Summary

Four Buddhist monks are found dead in their monastery near Vegas. Grissom, Sara and Nick investigate and find the monks were each shot at close range in the head.

Meanwhile, Catherine reopens the murder of an old friend and finds some disturbing facts about her old mentor who handled the case to begin with.

[edit] Critical analysis

The title of this episode is a pun, alluding to the musician Thelonious Monk. This is reminiscent of an earlier identical allusion in Terry Pratchett's novel Soul Music in the Discworld series, where Glod Glodsson is asked whether he would rather be remembered as the greatest horn player in the world or as some felonius monk. Thelonius Monk was however a pianist and composer.
