The Felix Mendelssohn College of Music and Theatre, located in Leipzig, Germany, was founded by Felix Mendelssohn in 1843 as the Leipzig Conservatory. The school was the first such major conservatory of music in Germany, and Mendelssohn served as the college's first director. The school extended its focus with the addition of the drama department in 1992 [1] and currently serves approximately 900 students. [2]
