Feld am See is a town in the district of Villach-Land in Carinthia in Austria. It is located in a valley called Gegendtal between the two mountains Mirnock (2.110m) and the Wöllaner Nock (2.145m)).

The valley Gegendtal was populated in the Middle Ages. The name of the valley was first documented in 1308. The sunny side of the valley was stubbed and populated until 1300. The locality called Rauth was the most important settlement in the whole area for a long time. The village of Feld am See was established in the 18th century after the construction of the Protestant church in 1787. The lake called "Brennsee" or "Feldner See" was named after the tavern and distillery Brenn which was founded in 1632. The elementary school was founded in 1851. In the late 19th century summer tourism started. In the period 1973 and 1991 Feld am See and Afritz am See were united to a single municipality.

The census in 2001 counted 1,188 inhabitants. 66.0% are Evangelists, 27.5% are Roman Catholics, 0.8% are Muslims and 5.1% belong to other denominations.
