[edit] Nice work!

I like all your good work on the music articles, especially the Duran Duran-related articles I like to keep an eye on. Great additions all around; feel free to drop a note on my talk page or on an article talk page if you have questions or comments on any of my changes or additions to your work. Keep it up! [edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Edit summary

Dear contributor, first I would like to say a big thank you for your time, care, and enthusiasm in editing Wikipedia articles. I hope you find it just as much fun as I do.

I am writing with a small suggestion. I wonder if you could write an edit summary every time you make changes to an article (or when you start a new one). Even a short summary helps. To see how often you have done so in the past, you may go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=YOUR USERNAME.

Edit summaries are important for a number of reasons. Every time you change an article, a record of that change propagates to every single person who has that article on their watchlist. Most people have an article on their watchlist because they care a lot about it, so they would like to be informed about what is going on with it. Accurate summaries help people decide whether it is worthwhile for them to check a change. This is why your edit summary, which will take you maybe 15 seconds, is a time-saver and a great act of candor to the other people interested in the same article as you. Accurate edit summaries are important because they create trust regarding your contributions and help resolve disputes.

There are other, very convincing reasons for putting an edit summary. More information is available at Wikipedia:Edit summary. If at any point you have any questions about this rule (or anything else for that matter), please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you and happy editing! Hyacinth 20:22, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

I'd like to second the previous poster - change comments are helpful.

Thanks much for filling in the missing info on the Spoons discs. I'll be putting in a couple more, probably in the same state of incompleteness. Your help would again be appreciated! I don't suppose you listen to Jesse Cook? Canadian, but totally different music.

I'll see you around the music pages.  :-)

[edit] Stone Roses single discography

Hey good job with the track listings for each of the singles releases... just make sure you that the Track Listing is the first thing after the intro blurb... I don't believe you should leave it as the last thing at the bottom of the page.. Cheers.. --Madchester 12:01, 2005 Jun 14 (UTC)

[edit] re: 4AD artists category

I am interested in your rationale for beginning a musicians category labeled "4AD Records artists." I think we probably should instead strengthen the history on this label located in the article 4AD.

Emerman 06:16, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanation at my page. I have just now moved my lengthy comments in reply over to my own page so as not to clutter yours so much, after considering how much space I was taking up here. Emerman 16:18, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category deletion nomination

Hi, Feduciary. Just letting you know that I have nominated Category:Singles by record label and its child Category:Mute Records singles for deletion. Their CfD is here: Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#Singles_by_record_label I thought as the creator of one you might like to know. cheers. pfctdayelise 04:05, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sources for Serious

Hello, good work on Serious, and thanks for the contribution. However, you did not provide any references or sources in the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. Can you list in the article any websites, books, or other sources that will allow people to verify the content in Serious? You can simply add links, preferably as the inline citations, or see citation templates for different citation methods. Thanks! best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 03:43, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Canada

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 04:30, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Duran Duran articles

Hey there, Feduciary! I've been doing a bit of work on the Duran Duran singles, standardizing the layout of the articles and blueing the red links. For the moment, I've left behind a lot of empty headings, and I could use some help filling in the information. I'll be working on them too as I can, but could you browse through the articles when you get a chance, check my work, and add anything that seems to be missing? Many of the articles still use the album infobox, which needs to be converted to Infobox Single, and most of the infoboxes are half-empty too.

No rush on this, but I'd be glad to have a little expert help. Thanks very much! — Catherine\talk 17:48, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Wow, you weren't kidding! Keep up the great work! — Catherine\talk 20:46, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Singles

Hi there. I'd like to ask you not to create categories that follow the convention "(Artist name) singles." We just went through a long process to replace all those with "(Artist name) songs," which everyone got behind. So categories like category:Foo Fighters singles just make people cranky. Cool?--Mike Selinker 23:01, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Understood. But the singles nomenclature was rarely followed, and so with a few well-categorized exceptions, some singles were in songs, some non-singles were in singles, and so on. It was a mess. Now it's clean. And for any artist you want, you can easily do a discography that puts singles in release order, rather than alphabetical.--Mike Selinker 15:14, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Invitation

Hi! Thought you might be interested in joining a proposed New Wave music WikiProject -- if so, please come add your name to the list.

Also, thanks for adding "Nice" to the DD menagerie; I wasn't sure whether it should be counted in the list or not. Keep up the good work! — Catherine\talk 17:02, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Square brackets

Why use square brackets for song versions, as opposed to round ones? I've been having to change them whenever I want to link a remixer's name, for instance. –Unint 15:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm mainly worried about having to change the style on, say, a single Duran Duran single to provide some links, and then having it fall out of step with the remaining articles. Aside from that, I think a case can certainly be made that "(Waiting for the) Night Boat" (live), with the version outside the quotation marks, is preferable over the alternative. (And as for round brackets for track times, I think they have bots that fix that now.) –Unint 22:35, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duran Duran (1983 Video)

Thanks for contributing to that article; I was trying to find out where the Nightboat video was released for, and why. Too bad that was never a single! 154.20.157.6 08:18, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Record label chronologies

Regarding changes like this, please see this discussion, the outcome of which was that such chronologies should not be included. Therefore I'm reverting this change. Have a nice day. --PEJL 13:33, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Istheresomething7.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Istheresomething7.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 01:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Happiness"

Hey there, do you have a source for this edit? [1] I'm only asking because I've already redirected a "Happiness" article back to Seventh Tree a few times because there was no source other than "Alison said it on the radio". I see you have an actual release date, so could you please add a source to it? - eo (talk) 15:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Hmmmm. Is it on the Mute website yet? We need to have a reliable source, ya know? - eo (talk) 16:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
