[edit] Prison Planet.com

As far as I can see, PrisonPlanet.com is a reliable source. It seems to have editorial review and be reasonably well written. Can someone explain why this source seems unreliable. Ursasapien (talk) 03:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Please see the Alex Jones (radio) bio. Prisonplanet.com publishes conspiracy theories about how powerful people are turning the U.S. into a totalitarian state, sometimes called a "North American Union." Among other things, it regularly says that 9/11 was orchestrated by the U.S. government. It has also asserted that global warming is a hoax to provide another pretext for government control. Prisonplanet.com is on the fringe. • Gene93k 07:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
    • Okay, I started to defend to article by saying it was written by Greg Szymanski, not Alex Jones. Then I followed a link to Greg's site. Whew! Talk about your conspiracists wackos! However, that being said, it seems that they article does quote a particular prisoner who was formerly at Edgefield. It gives specific details about three inmate deaths that occured apparently due to lack of medical attention. All these facts seem like they are verifiable. I do not believe that this cite should be a problem, but if others have strong feelings, could they assist me in finding some independent verification of this information? • Conspiracy websites are not WP:RS, especially considering the claim presented. NNtw22 03:32, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Again, I think this information should be independently verifiable. Would you be willing to work with me to find another source regarding these deaths and the lack of medical care at the institution? I do not think we should whitewash this. Ursasapien (talk) 10:35, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
If you want to add material, make sure it is a WP:RS. No, I will not help you find a source to compare the US prison to "Abu Ghraib prison." Such a comparison is absurb, and mocks the suffering of individuals at Abu Ghraib. NNtw22 01:27, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I see, you would rather make a mockery of the suffering of the prisoners at the Federal Correctional Institution, Edgefield. Lawrence Lawton was released August 24, 2007. He is, only now able to speak freely about the horrors he faced. He had severe scoliosis that went untreated. His condition worsened as a result of his lack of treatment. Why do you wish to whitewash this article? Ursasapien (talk) 05:25, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
A mockery of what? You haven't added any WP:RS about anything. If you can demonstrate from a RS that any of the prisonplanet.com stuff occured then it can be added. Until then removing conspiracy websites is hardly whitewashing. NNtw22 06:06, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
