The Federation of Motor Sports clubs of India (FMSCI) was founded in 1971 and is a long-standing member of the FIM and the FIA, the world bodies for 2/3 and 4 wheeler motorsport respectively.

The FMSCI is the only national sports federation recognised by the Government of India for the promotion and control of motorsports in India, and is affiliated to the prestigious Indian Olympic Association. We are also affiliated to the Asian Motorcycle Union (UAM), our representative to which is one of the Vice Presidents of this Asian wing of the FIM.

Over the years we have been able to involve leading manufacturers like JK Tyres, MRF Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation, Indian Tobacco Company, UB Group, Birla Tyres, Popular Automobiles, Ceat Limited, AVT, Goodyear, Maruti, TVS Motor Company, Escorts Yamaha, Hero Honda etc, actively in motorsport, and their association has benefited the sport immensely. Further, we have brought almost all the major four & two wheeler manufacturers within the fold of motorsports by “ homologating” their vehicles, which is basically the technical registration of the vehicle with regard to its gearbox, suspension, etc to ensure a level playing field in National competition. The FMSCI has built up over the yeas, a dedicated pool of 98 Stewards, 20 Technical Delegates and a thousand-odd Marshals in addition to the following infrastructure/ facilities for motorsport:

1. The only purpose-built international race track located at Chennai owned by its founder member club, the Madras Motors Sports Club with international Quality transponder / automatic timing equipment implanted at start / finish line of the track.

2. Go- kart centers owned by our members at Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Ludhiana, New Delhi, etc.

3. Calibrated Scrutiny Kits for vehicle inspection

4. Automatic rally timing devices with printers

5. HAMS and other communication equipment

6. The Advanced Driving & Corporate Academy, the only one of its kind in India for training aspiring racing drivers, is run by FMSCI members.

While promotion of Motorsport remains our main objective, it is our duty as well to see that Motorsport is conducted in a safe, fair and orderly manner and not brought into disrepute by bad organisation, incorrect regulations and inadequate safety arrangements. To ensure proper conduct of Motorsport events in accordance with our National Competition Rules, we have established a procedure whereby the regulations governing each event are first processed by the FMSCI and if found in order, permit issued to the organiser for a nominal permit fee. When required, the services of FMSCI trained officials are utilised to ensure the smooth running of an event.
