Federal Signal produces some of the most widely used sirens and emergency light systems in the United States. The "Legend" lightbar is used in many police departments, as the Q-Siren and E-Q2B siren are popular with fire departments. Federal Signal's sirens produce some of the more common siren tones (Wail, Yelp, Hi-Lo, Priority [a rapid Yelp tone]) as well as a variety of very attention-getting tones (Futura, Ultra Hi-Lo, Hetro, Ultra Hetro). The newest siren to the line up would be the "Rumbler." The Rumbler utilizes two low-tone subwoofers to achieve vibrations, so sirens can not only be heard, but felt as well. The popular Rumbler has already been taken on by many police departments already. The vast emergency lighting equipment from Federal Signal includes lightbars, spotlights, perimeter lights, grille lights, etc. most available with halogen, strobe or LED lights. Almost any light can be provided in red, blue, amber, clear, and occasionally purple and/or green.

Federal Signal also offers comprehensive solutions that help first responders protect people, property and the environment in for Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Homeland Security, Streets and Sanitation and industrial and commercial applications. The Federal Signal SmartMsg critical communications system is in use at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport and Omaha's UASI Region.
