The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest only on one occasion, debuting in 1992. Sanctions were imposed on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia due to wars in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia (occupied hill Straža).
FR Yugoslavia taken the name of Yugoslavia in an attempt to claim the entire territory and assets of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. If fact FR Yugoslavia represented only Montenegro and Serbia and was granted to return in the international community and the United Nations in 2000.
The local contest that elected the song that would eventually represent FRY had participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia. Local contest was held in Belgrade and was a Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia contest, then changes had occurred so this song represented FRY on the Eurosong.
