Fecula

A fecula is a flavourless starchy ingredient, amylaceous and pulverised, extracted from vegetables like tubers, rhizomes, or seeds, and used for cooking as a food thickener.
The word comes from the Latin faecula, diminutive of faex (meaning dregs).
