[edit] The Carpenters

I'm nominating this article for featured article because I believe it is a very well-written article about a very prominent duo from the 1970s. It has sufficient images and is very informative. Any constructive remarks are welcome! Karen Carpenter's Biggest Fan 23:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Oppose. Didn't give it a close read, and I'm definitely up for the continued rehabilitation of the Carpenters, but some fundamental flaws in terms of FAC. The lead section is too short; there are not nearly enough citations throughout the article; there is not enough informed analysis of their music — either of its constituent elements, or their approach to song interpretation (an examination of their treatment of "Superstar" would be illustrative, for example); the paragraph that begins "1975 was another blockbuster year for the Carpenters ..." is an impossible-to-assimilate run-on; wikilinking of songs and albums is inconsistent; the discography is sufficiently long that it should be broken out as The Carpenters discography, as it commonly done for major musical artists; the Grammy Awards all need to be wikilinked; and so forth. • Oppose. The lead's too short. There aren't enough references. (Ibaranoff24 07:03, 10 November 2007 (UTC))
  • Oppose Sorry to pile on but I agree with previous oppositions. Please fix because otherwise it seems fine:) --ROGER DAVIES TALK 09:50, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Comment. All right, I lengthened the introduction, and got rid of the "1975 was another blockbuster..." sentence, and removed the discography from this page and put a link directed to the "List of albums by the Carpenters" page. A note about the references: most information from the Carpenters either comes from Ray Coleman's "The Untold Story" book, which I believe I added to this article, and various documentaries like the E! Hollywood True Story or "Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters," so it is very hard to cite everything, because it seems a bit redundant. Karen Carpenter's Biggest Fan 20:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
