This user account is a bot operated by TheFearow (talk).

It is not a sock puppet, but rather an automated or semi-automated account for making repetitive edits that would be extremely tedious to do manually.
Administrators: if this bot is malfunctioning or causing harm, please block it.

[edit] Request for Bot Approval

I have a current RFB, which can be found at WP:RFB and can be viewed here.

[edit] Bot Purpose

Monitor Special:newpages for spam, using a points system for ranking articles. It then either nominates using WP:PROD, or WP:SPEEDY depending on how sure it is. I am currently working on new features.

[edit] Unsure Spam

Articles the bot is unsure about have the template Template:IdentifiedSpam added to them. This places them in the Suspected Spam Articles category.

[edit] Miscellaneous Information

  • Programming Language: Java
  • Framework: Customized JWBF (jwbf.sourceforge.net)
  • Amount of edits: No more than once every 5 seconds
  • Bot schedule: I will only run the bot while I am there, and due to my timezone when I am online is not usually peak times.
  • Internal error: If the program has an internal error it will immediately stop updating/reading pages, and show me the error.
