[edit] Early life
Martina was born on September 15, 1975 in the Czech town of Světlá nad Sázavou, approx. 100km from Prague. Martina was the second child of Helena and Jiří Krupičkovi. The family maintain a 600m2 picturesque garden beside the Sázava River.
In 1990, one year after the Velvet Revolution, Krupičková commenced Fashion Design and Textile studies at a prestige school in Brno. These studies, lasting four years, improved her design, drawing and painting skills. However, it would be some time before these would be put into practice as the world was opening up to Czechs, who could now travel abroad relatively easily.
[edit] London
1995 Krupičková travelled to London and working as an au pair and spending her leisure time sketching subjects in St. James's Park.
[edit] United States
1998 Krupičková travelled to the United States and spent six months travelling. Cities visited included: New York, Chicago and Nashville.
[edit] Prague
1999 Krupičková returned to Prague and began a relationship with an Englishman, Paul Feagan. A print of an impressionist painting had been left in their apartment and Paul often mentioned that one day they would have a real painting there.
Krupičková learnt to paint oil on canvas using a palette knife and presented her first work to her partner as a birthday present. The painting was a success and immediately replaced the impressionist print on the apartment wall.
Since that first painting, there have been 120 more, together with 10 exhibitions and an entry into the 2008 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
