Could someone please explain what would be the correct phobia-word for fear of bats. The article states that chiroptophobia is

... an incorrect derivation from the order Chiroptera of bats.

I do not know Greek nor the fine points of deriving words. Wouldn't chiroptophobia be something like hand-wing-fear? Chiralsen (talk) 19:17, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

that would be 'chiropterophobia'.

That's a good picture for describing the fear's possible roots- but is it bothersome to those with a fear of bats? I just thought it might be, with those wings. 72.160.174.65 (talk) 02:18, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
