"Feathers" is the second single from the Coheed and Cambria album Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow. A promotional website for the song can be found at meetthefeathers.com.
Claudio Sanchez states in a BBC radio interview that "Feathers" is a metaphor for women collecting dirt (lies) in their "feathers" similar to pigeons.[citation needed]

The video was first announced at a concert. [1] The video premiered on MTV 2 on February 4, 2008. It is directed by Marc Klasfeld. [2] (NOTE: On MTV Dave Robertson is erroneously credited as the director.)
The video stars Rena Riffel as a housewife who makes breakfast for her two sons and husband before they head off to school and work. Unsatisfied with the small sausage she makes for her family after seeing them disappointed with it, she kidnaps a boy scout leader (Chris Pennie) a milkman (Travis Stever) and the local navy recruiter (Michael Todd) and plans to use them to create a feast for her family. After she goes into her family's attic she hears the doorbell ring. It is the mailman (Claudio Sanchez) with a package for her. She answers the door and accepts the package. She opens the package to reveal a meat mallet, and soon lures the mailman into the house and knocks him out. She then grinds up all four of the band members and uses the meat to make dinner (burgers, frankfurters, ribs, etc.). The boys and her husband arrive home to find out the food is ready, and are excited and happy. While eating, the husband spits out a long hair (presumably the mailman's) from a bite, but he shrugs it off and the family continues to enjoy their dinner.

[edit] Single/video edit and remix
The music video uses an edited version of the song. The guitar solo section is cut in half, and the second half of the final chorus is cut off. The song simply jumps from the middle of the final chorus to the second half of the outro. In addition, the line "Hold as the world stops spinning, read that writing on the wall/You're another, Newo/Is the cushion just enough to break the fall?" is excised from the first verse. In all, the song is shortened by about 58 seconds. This version will likely be used for radio airplay as well. This version is being used on Sirius Alt Nation.
In April, 2008, the remix to the song was revealed on the band's myspace site. The remix was initially called the edIT mix, but now sits under the title Feathers Glitch Mob mix
