"Fear And Loathing At The Fundraiser" is the fourth episode of the Showtime original series Californication. It was written by Daisy Gardner, directed by Michael Lembeck and originally aired on Sunday September 3, 2007.

In a bid to spark more than a purely sexual relationship with Hank, Meredith convinces him to escort her to an environmental fundraiser. Before the event, Hank stops off at Karen's to deliver a gift (a mobile phone) for Becca and learns Karen is off coincidentally to the same function.

Charlie is also at the function and, when his secretary Dani comes, Hank notices something is going on. A bit later on his office, Dani strips to her lingerie and heats Charlie up. Hank also finds Todd Carr, who tells him he's not going to hit him again since Hank's affair with this wife convinced him to divorce her. Karen has trouble with a man that calls her a "cunt", but Bill prevents her from retaliating. Meredith introduces Hank to Jonathan Mandel and his wife Nikki, and he's the married man she's having an affair with. Hank tells her he doesn't mind, that he just want to be warned and, if she wants chaos, he'll create chaos for her.

Meanwhile, back at home, Becca and Mia have a bonding moment. In his office, Charlie is taking erotic pictures of Dani in lingerie when Hank walks in. Hank convinces Charlie to talk to his wife, since he thinks she deserves it and that she may be up to kinky things. Back to the party, Hank finds Meredith drunk and confronts her lover, telling the truth to his wife.

While leaving, he asks Karen if she's proud of him since he behaved like she asked him before. She tells him so, but then mentions that a man called her a "cunt" before, and Hank decks him. At home, Becca asks Karen is she stills loves Hank, while he nurses a drunk Meredith to bed.

Becca then calls Hank on the mobile phone he gave her, telling him she thought he was having trouble sleeping. She reminds him that, when she was little, he helped her sleep by counting mermaids, and he fells asleep on the deck chair while counting mermaids with her.

The scene where Dani crawls on the floor to Charlie with the letter is a direct reference to the film Secretary.
This episode is titled "Fear and Loathing at the Fundraiser," a reference to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
