Freedom of the press inevitably entails a heavy burden of responsibility, and includes not only the right to print, but also the right not to print.

The pursuit of balance can create imbalance because sometimes something is true. - Daniel Okrent

Our social policies are not a suicide pact. They are in place to help us write the encyclopedia. ... We need to take due process seriously, but we also need to remember: this is not a democracy, this is not an experiment in anarchy, it's a project to make the world a better place by giving away a free encyclopedia. - Jimbo Wales

Me

Name - Travis

Age - 24

Location - Fairbanks, Alaska.

Occupation - Full-time student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, as I've left my media relations position with GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing, the 2007 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype championship-winning team. I served in a slew of editorial positions with The Advocate at Contra Costa College, a National Newspaper Pacemaker Award-winning weekly newspaper, culminating in my being elected editor in chief during the 2006-07 academic year. My line of work formerly took me on frequent business travel on United Airlines, where I am a 100,000-Mile Flyer (1K) member, but as I'm heading to Fairbanks, I'm now an MVP Gold on Alaska Airlines. I began and ended my career in politics as communications director for California Generation Dean, part of Howard Dean's 2003-04 Presidential primary campaign. Yes, I was in Des Moines, Iowa during the 2004 Iowa caucuses, yes, I heard The Scream and yes, I still have my orange beanie. :sigh:

Education - Associate of Arts in journalism from Contra Costa College, San Pablo, Calif., 2007. Currently studying at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, majoring in journalism and northern studies.

Honors - 2007 Associated Collegiate Press Two-year College Reporter of the Year, second place - Diversity Story of the Year, third place, a bunch of other awards which would take up their own page to list.

Interests - Grand-Am, road racing, roads and highways, American politics, Team Fortress 2, travel, aviation, etc.

On July 1, 2005, I became the 500th administrator on en.wikipedia. Thanks to everyone who supported my candidacy!

I am a member of the OTRS team.

Bio

I'm just your ordinary average 24-year-old college student - struggling toward a bachelor's degree whilst engaged in mortal PR combat with a Grand-Am sports car racing team. Born in Berkeley, California in 1983, I tested out of high school and skipped directly to community college, where I've semi-stalled-out after being heavily engaged into Contra Costa College's nationally-honored student newspaper. In 2006, I was elected editor-in-chief of The Advocate for the 2006-07 school year.

Future projects

Create articles on the Rolex Sports Car Series, Daytona Prototypes and the teams that race the series.
