FC Kärnten is an Austrian football club based in Klagenfurt. It was founded in 1920 under the name of SK Austria Klagenfurt. In 1997 they changed their name after cooperating with former Villacher SV to FC Austria/VSV. Finally in 1999 they changed to their current name FC Kärnten. They play their home games at the Sportzentrum Fischl. Their current manager is Günter Hafner.
In 2001 they won the Austrian Cup, the Supercup and became first in the 1.Liga to play in the Bundesliga in the following year under former manager Walter Schachner. They played in the Bundesliga until 2004. In 2003 they were also in the final of the Austrian Cup and again finalist of the Supercup.
