FC Derby is a football club that had played in the Premier division and the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente and plays in a stadium with a capacity of 4,000. It is the second team won the most cups after independence especially in the 1960s and the 1970s.
In 2006, the Santiago North Zone did not participate in the premier division since they did not win the championship, which meant that FC Derby automatically advances into the premier league by virtue of having been champions in 2005.
