FC Almaty (Kazakh: Алматы Футбол Клубы) are a Kazakhstani football based in Almaty. They are current members of the Kazakhstan Premier League. The club was formed as FC Tcesna in 2000, changing their name when they won promotion in their first season. Playing in a red and white home strip, the club has a strong youth policy. They play their home games at Almaty Central Stadium. In 2006 they won their first major honours, the Kazakhstan Cup, and as such qualified for the 2007-08 UEFA Cup. Their first outing was to prove unsuccessful however as they were eliminated in the first qualifying round by Slovakian side FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce.
