Kogswell

Hi,

I note your comments. What I'll do is unprotect the page for now and put it on my watchlist. Your best bet for keeping the article alive is to make sure that the article is neutral in tone (ie comparison with competitors, weaknesses as well as strengths) and fully sourced, and you make it clear why the company is notable enough for an article. Good luck. jimfbleak 06:34, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Images

you need to be able to select the GFDL option from the tag list on the upload file page, and make it clear that you have explicit permission from the owners of the copyright under those terms. You can, of course, credit the copyright owners on the upload page, but any other restrictions on the use of the image will result in deletion.

It might be better if you can get them to send you a different picture, not because the image is from a commercial site, but from their point of view, once they realise the terms of use under GFDL, they might be less happy about signing away most of their rights to an image they are actually using commercially.

I'm always happy to help if I can, and I see you've found the help desk. jimfbleak 06:26, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Trail Graphic.jpg

GFDL, as noted above, will prevent future problems, if you have the right to tag an image as such of course. --Guinnog 19:30, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Boschert on NiMH

Can you please take a look at Agyle's comments on Talk:Plug-in hybrid#Section on Patent Encumbrances Should be Deleted? I'm inclined to agree. Having read the book, I thought the original version represented it well. Now, the statements in the present tense seem directly at odds with reality. ←BenB4 00:14, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

When I talked to Sherry, she was not comfortable with the wording, "but Chevron and other oil-related interests suppressed the technology to forestall the introduction of plug-in hybrids." She sent me the verbiage which she thought better represented the position she takes in her book. I did some very minor edits and posted her version.Fbagatelleblack 20:55, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for doing so much on that. I expanded Sherry Boschert. ←BenB4 01:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Plug-in Hybrids

Hi. Thanks for your inquiry, it appears from my understanding that the most active editors of that article, the ones that put it up for featured status and worked it up to its current level, asked the featured article director to reschedule it for October. The reason as to why they requested this is not known to me, though you could probably ask them yourself on the article's talk page. It should be up or the main page again in two months if all stays the same. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 18:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Motorized Bicycles

Hi again, you should attempt the suggestions given at WP'S Dealing with Vandalism page, or listing the user on Administrator Intervention. Normally, it is best to simply warn the user initially without bringing others into it and explaining the policy to them, sometimes they are just unaware of policy and will cease without trouble, however, if he or she persists without saying anything, Admin Intervention is the best route. Now, if he or she begins to argue, attempt a compromise with them first, they may just be stubborn good faith editors who want to help the site and treating them like criminals isn't going to get the dispute anywhere. In this case, you can now try advising other users of he issue, particularly those that frequent that specific article, since they will be able to argue better points for you, if it still continues after that, you can try what is suggested at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 23:29, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, don't worry about it!

I hadn't heard of BYD Auto either, but they sell tens of thousands of cars, which isn't big-five territory, but it's a lot more than the 0 so far of Tesla and Fisker. And you didn't make me do any more work, I just reverted to an earlier version. CME94 17:18, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I am looking for help in setting up my User Page

If anyone could offer me any help in setting up my user page, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!Fbagatelleblack (talk) 17:58, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

You might want to look at the user page design center for some ideas, or consider putting your name under "Renovatees" at the Trading Spaces project. I don't recommend you use the helpme tag to ask for help with this, as the template is intended to be used for help with working on the project, not for user space questions. Thanks, and I hope this helps! Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I think yours looks great now! Thanks for asking me. :) Wind75 (talk) 07:50, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

3RR

The user has received no clear warning of 3rr infringement, so I haven't blocked immediately, but I've made it clear that a block will follow under any user name for future offences. I've also semiprotected the page temporarily. Let me know if any more probs, Jimfbleak (talk) 07:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Volt

I agree it's inappropriate, and I've removed it. the problem at the moment, unless I've overlooked something, is that there is no clear pattern, the link seems to be added from different ISPs, so it's difficult to know who to warn. Jimfbleak 06:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Admin

To get to be an admin you have to show that you need the powers, and would use them wisely. Looking at your last 100 or so contributions, they are mainly article edits, and even where you have warned people of vandalism, it's to articles that you have an interest in. You would need to establish some sort of track record in areas like monitoring new pages and marking for speedy deletion if necessary, or monitoring recent changes and taking action in terms of reversion or warnings against vandalism. Unless you show that your activities are leading to a situation in which giving you the powers to delete articles, block vandals or block pages is likely to be beneficial to Wikipedia, you will struggle to garner enough support. Hope this is helpful

Vigilance

Being protective is good, to an extent, which is what watchlists are all about. But it is absolutely vital that anyone is able to immediately turn their back on any article, because there will be times, usually 3RR, when you can't do a thing. Often people will gang up on you when they think they are right and don't know any better. If you are being posessive when that happens, you can get shot down, no matter how right you happen to be ;/ J T Price (talk) 05:24, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

hybrid

I've been away for a couple of days, seen your message, i'll have a look tomorrow. Jimfbleak (talk) 16:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Re your message: Since you appear to have gotten some feedback already and the editor in question has left you a note below about discussing the matter on the article Talk page, I don't think you need my input. I hope that everybody can work out the issues.
On a side note, have we crossed paths before? I'm trying to figure out how you found me as I do not recall seeing you before. It's possible my memory is slipping and we have crossed paths before, if so, sorry about that. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:51, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

greeting

Thank you for your greeting. I apologize if any of my comments seemed combative. That was not my intention. I am prepared to discuss the PHEV article's NiMH patent encumbrence section point by point in the discussion section any time. You will notice that I have made a good faith effort to respond to all specific criticisms of my edits since the initial changes.Xchange (talk) 21:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Moot point

I haven't recreated the page in case it gets deleted again before you edit it. It's not protected. so you can recreate when you are ready. The text was as follows (note that I've removed [ or ( from the cat de and stub links to stop them showing on this page):

Moots is a low production American bicycle company based in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Moots specializes in custom hand-built titanium frames.

I think it would be helpful to have a ref for the company itself, rather than just the products, which looks spammy. You can make the refs look neater using the format [url name], which displays just the website's name. Jimfbleak (talk) 15:57, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Reverts on Plug-in hybrid‎ article

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Plug-in hybrid‎. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution.

Note: While I agree with your removal of the content, you would be better off asking for admin assistance rather than getting pulled into the revert war yourself. I've also placed a warning on the anon's talk page. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 16:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem, I've blocked problem user, and, as far as I can see, others have reverted all the random edits. Just bear in mind that we are here to help, and you don't want to get yourself blocked, whatever the provocation :) Jimfbleak (talk) 20:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
