Founded in 1990, as a joint venture between the First Automobile Works (FAW) and Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen AG) (VWAG), creating FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company, abbreviated to FAW-VW. Equity holdings are split: Volkswagen AG with 20%, Audi AG has 10%, Volkswagen (China) Invest 10%, and FAW has the remaining 60%. The main FAW-VW factory is in Changchun, Jilin Province.
Production started in 1991, and the current manufactured range of cars includes:
