Fauth is a small double-crater located at the edge of the rough southern ramparts of Copernicus crater on the Moon. It lies in the Mare Imbrium, to the northeast of Reinhold crater.
This formation is composed of the merged craters Fauth and the slightly smaller 'Fauth A'. The later craterlet cuts into the southern rim of Fauth crater, and has a radius of 9.6 kilometers. Fauth was most likely a secondary crater that was created by the formation of Copernicus.

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Fauth crater.
