[edit] License tagging for Image:USS-Gen-HHArnold-P.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:USS-Gen-HHArnold-P.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:09, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi FatBear1, I noticed that you uploaded the photo above and thought you might appreciate some assistance. If you upload a photo that is your own work (i.e. you own the copyright for it) then you must release it either into the public domain, or under a free license such as the GFDL, otherwise Wikipedia cannot use it. The reason why is because all content on Wikipedia is designed to be free for everyone to use. This means that owners of creative works such as photographs cannot simply release them "for use on Wikipedia only".
To release your photo under the GFDL, just edit the page and replace the existing text with the following:
== Summary ==
{{Information
|Description=ADD YOUR DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTO HERE
|Source=self-made
|Date=ADD THE DATE THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN HERE
|Author= [[User:FatBear1|FatBear1]]
}}

== Licensing ==
{{GFDL-self|author=I, [[User:FatBear1|FatBear1]]}}
If you prefer to release it into the public domain just change "GFDL-self" to "PD-self". Regards, Hux (talk) 07:36, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
