In fact, "femine" could be an appropriate spelling, being used in early italian authors as Dante, Boccaccio and Petrarca, while "Maschii" is certainly unappropriate

It's not certainly unappropriate, old Italian used to spell the plural of nouns ending with -io (the case of maschio) as ending with -ii. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.0.162.195 (talk) 13:22, August 26, 2007 (UTC)
