Talk:Fatos Nano
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He's not a yoyo, he's the guy in charge (he has many powerful friends, both legal and otherwise, that make him a lot of money and give him political clout). This is certainly POV, so I'm not making any additions yet. Dori | Talk 04:45, Dec 11, 2003 (UTC)
- Yes he is Mr. Dori, Many albanians refer to him as esp. the oppostion.--Gustuv 01:31, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm not getting what was meant by yoyo (I am Albanian, though I haven't lived there for quite a while). I'd call him a thief and a criminal (and still be NPOV), but a yoyo (going up and down)? I just haven't heard that. Dori | Talk 00:38, Oct 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I think the article is referring to yoyo in the sense that he goes in and out of being prime minister. He's a yoyo in that he oscillates, not because he goes up and down.Justind 14:53, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Family
Does Fatos Nano have a family? any children? Is he married? Justind 14:56, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
Yes he is married, twice- once to Rexhina and now to Xhoana Nano. For kids from what I know he's got a daughter and son but i could be mistaken.
[edit] Religion
According to some sources he is an Albanian Orthodox and not an atheist. I personally doubt that he is (very) religious. User:Nicklaarakkers Friday 16 February 2007 19:59 (CET)
- Yep as far as I know he is an orthodox but like all most Albanian politician he is not very religious Gon4z 00:06, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- He is an Orthodox, so I think we should add that piece of informationm even though he is not religious. That's a thing that he chose for himself and his life, but he still cames from a father and mother who are both Orthdox. Or we can put the word "orthodox" in parentheses so people who read this will have a better idea of what's going on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.92.176 (talk) 23:59, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Drunk
Removed sentence "he is a drunk" at the end of the first paragraph.
[edit] History
Are you people kidding when you say "Nano was imprisoned in 1993 after he was found guilty of theft. During 1994, Ponzi schemes were installed in Albania, and it is alleged that he and his party played a key role in creating, managing and using those for political profit."
How could he or his party create the Ponzi schemes while being in prison, his party not running the country, but on the contrary, Sali Berisha, his historical rival being the president in 1994, until 1997 when the Ponzi scheme collapsed and people in Albania began protesting with guns, almost a civil war, until Berisha , which they held responsible of that collapse, resigned. I also remind you that Sali Berisha was at that time and always is the leader of the Democratic Party, which was also the Party running the country from 1992 to 1997. A lot of articles published at that time relate these events, for ex the firts one I find when googling "Albania Ponzi schemes" : http://www.worldbank.org/html/prddr/trans/so97/albania2.htm Another one published on The New York Times at that time : http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9904E1DB1339F931A25750C0A961958260&n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/Subjects/F/Frauds%20and%20Swindling And many other articles suggest that it is Berisha and his governmenet who tolerated if not encouraged Ponzi schemes, but this is another matter.
Please be reasonable while writing that kind of things, wikipedia is not the place where you can spread your personal feelings, convictions or allegations heard I really don't know where, internet is huge, you can do that elsewhere! I am definitely removing this sentence. Pingui 22:41, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
