Fateh Jang Tehsil

Fateh Jang Tehsil is an administrative subdivision (tehsil), of Attock District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The tehsil is administratively subdivided into 14 Union Councils[1].

Until the independence of Pakistan in 1947, Fateh Jang was under British rule, the Imperial Gazetteer of India describes the Tahsil (tehsil) as follows:

"Fatahjang (Fatehjang). --Easternmost tahsil of Attock District, Punjab, lying between 33°10′ and 33°45′ N. and 72°23′ and 73°1′ E., with an area of 866 square miles. The population in 1901 was 114,849, compared with 113,041 in 1891. It contains 203 villages, of which Fatahjang (population, 4,825) is the head-quarters. The land revenue and cesses amounted in 1903-4 to 1.9 lakhs. The tahsil is divided into three distinct parts. North of the Kala-Chitta is a small plain much cut up by ravines. South of the Khairi-Murat is the fertile Sohan valley, while between the two ranges of hills lies a rough plain, narrow in the east and broadening towards the west"[2].

  • Sukhwal is small village on the Fatehjang-Mianwali road about 63 km from Islamabad and 28 km from Fatehjang, although lees in number but rich in its cultural values, its amazing to visit this place. It is just touching the main road and after Dhurnal (from Fathejang side), a famous Oil and Gas field.
  • Thatti Gujran is a modern village some 6 km from town centre. It has a population of about 1500-2000 people.Several private vehicles serve the route between town centre and the village. Thatti gujran has two girl's and one boy's primary school.Its water supply system was sponsored by Asian development bank. People of the village are Sunni Muslims. They celebrate religious festivals with great zeal and zest. They are moderate as compared to conservative population of Attock district.
  • Gali Jagir is a village at Fatehjang-Mianwali road about 15 km from town centre. The people of Gali Jagir are very friendly. It has middle schools both for boys and girls. A Basic Health Unit (BHU) to provide health facilities. It is very beautiful village surrounded by mountains. It has gas mixing station of Sui Southern Gas Limited, from there Sui gas is supplied to several cities of Punjab. The work on water supply scheme is going on. A new link road from Islamabad-Lahore motorway at Chakri Interchange to Fatehjang-Mianwali road is passing from here.
  • Gulial is a village located on a link road from Main Kohat-Fateh Jang Road. The link road almost 2.5KM and the total distance from tehsil (Fateh Jang) is 18.5KM. It is very beautiful village having its post office, 2 government primary schools for boys and girls (Separately), 3 private middle level schools for boys and girls (Combined). There are few dams for fish farming and a few cattle farms as well.
