Fat Hen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fat Hen or fat-hen is a name for various plants with succulent or juicy leaves, often species that are used as a vegetable:
- Aristolochia rotunda (Smearwort)
- Atriplex prostrata (Spear-leaved Orache)
- Chenopodium album (White Goosefoot)
- Sedum spp. (from German Fetthenne, see also Hen and chicks)
In addition, the plump version of the Federal Eagle in the German Bundestag is sometimes called "fat hen" (German: Fette Henne). A very similar version is found on the German 1 and 2 euro coins.
