Talk:Fast combat support ship

I question the validity of the details regarding the Sacramento Class ships. I served aboard the the USS Camden (AOE2) from 1988-1990. At that time there were to my knowledge no civilian personnel on board. This contrasts with the details herein which suggest the ship was staffed by 30 military personnel and 300 civilian merchant marine personnel.
I agree, the Sacramento-class were never USNS - the Supply class were handed over to MSC in the early 2000's, but AOE 1-4 were simply decommissioned. Doc wicket 12:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
The details are all sorts of screwy. Doc Wicket, I believe whoever originally wrote the article was referring to the Supply class - but he's still wrong. I'm currently aboard the USNS Supply, and I can tell you there isn't an MSC ship on the fleet that would try crowding 300 CivMars aboard. We've got about 120-130, tops.
And the Sacramento class was decommed because MSC wasn't willing to take 'em. Those ships served their time, and then some. 164.231.65.25 08:37, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
