Xevious: Fardraut Densetsu is only released for the PC Engine which was a sequel to Xevious: Fardraut Saga. It was only released in Japan. It features two modes of play selectable from the title screen: Arcade (which the original) and Fardraut, (which is the PC Engine mode). which is a 4 stage story mode with cut-scenes, new enemies, and a different ship on each level (after one stage is finished, it gets a new area and ship. At the end, there is a boss battle).
