[edit] Ossonoba
I am not sure about this, so I would like to hear confirmation from anyone, but I believe Faro was founded by Phoenicians (and it was them who gave it the name Ossonoba, meaning warehouse in Phoenician). During Roman times it was already called Ossonoba, so I seriously doubt it was the Moors who called it Ossonoba.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.23.105.69 (talk)
- All the sources I could find say that it was the Romans who gave it the name "Ossonoba". On the other hand, the article doesn't say that the Moors gave it the name. --Mel Etitis ([[User talk:Mel Etitis|Μελ Ετητης)]] 09:54, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
