I was curious as to the time period the movie portrayed, THat was why they showed us the film junior year in high school. I thought it was around the mid 1800's, but i just wanted some support. can some one postthat?

No doubt Far and Away deals with a land run, but I am disputing which land run. I've seen 1889 mentioned as well as 1893.

• amazon mentions 1893
• half.com mentions land run of the 1890's
• imdb.com user mentions 1893 in his plot summary

Honestly, it seems the real date is 1893 and not 1889. This error might also be present on Land Run of 1889 Ash Lux 17:55, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

I believe that this was a mistake by the people that made the movie. Joseph and Shannon clearly wishes to participate in the Oklahoma Land Run. I think they messed up on the dates. Yes, the movie says it happened in 1893, but the real Land Run was in 1889. That only way I can see around this is if they are not talking about the Oklahoma Land Run. However, that also makes no sense because the Run in the movie was in Oklahoma and that only Run in Oklahoma was in 1889. My opinion is that the movie made a hiccup. Mr.Morose 01:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
